The Cunard liner Lusitania as she probably would have looked on the morning of May 7th, 1915, when she was torpedoed 18 miles off Ireland's Old Head of Kinsale by Unterseeboot 20 (commanded by Kapitänleutnant Walther Schwieger). Although only one torpedo struck the Lusitania, she was rocked by a secondary explosion, the cause of which is still open to speculation. Despite the best efforts of her skipper William Turner and that of the liner's crew, the Lusitania slipped beneath the waves some eighteen minutes after the U-20's attack. Out of the 1,959 passengers and crew aboard, 1,198 perished.

Yes it was. And my user name comes from a Avro Lancaster Bomber that flew 121 missions during WWII. I liked the sound of it, so I used it.

Stay tuned. I made a copy of my Lusitania pic which I'm currently modifying to show what she looked like in peacetime service.

Yes, but I have yet to decide on which liner I will draw next. Once I modify the Lusitania, My next project will probably be the U-20 which sank the Lusitania on 7/5/15.
